A must read

There are two excellent stories out today - an endorsement from the state's leading African-American newspaper, the Richmond Free Press, and a great profile of Terry in The Washington Post. I'm not going to do much writing in this email; the articles speak for themselves. As the RFP wrote, "We see Terry McAuliffe as the one who can win, keep up the momentum for hope and change and continue the tradition of smart, fair-minded resourceful leadership best exemplified by President Obama."

McAuliffe Looks To General Election

In a fundraising letter sent yesterday, gubernatorial candidate Terry McAuliffe ignored his Democratic opponents and instead went after Republican nominee Robert F. McDonnell.

"It seems like every time we get a chance to put aside partisanship and get things done, Bob McDonnell chooses ideology over what's best for the Commonwealth,'' McAuliffe said. "Maybe that's why I heard Republicans are going to throw the kitchen sink into Virginia to help his campaign. Sure enough, Bob's planning to bring in people like Sean Hannity, John McCain and Sarah Palin in order to fuel it."

A Must Read

The campaign’s just 15 days old, but we’ve clearly got the momentum on our side. This morning, the Washington Post‘s Tim Craig highlighted some of the things we’ve accomplished, and I wanted to make sure you had a chance read his article.

Noting our “sophisticated, media-savvy approach,” Craig wrote that, “Although many State House insiders were initially skeptical of McAuliffe, he has been running a nearly flawless campaign. Democrats and Republicans are taking him seriously.”

McAuliffe Raises $1 million in 6 weeks

Terry McAuliffe announced today he’s raised nearly $1 million since mid November for his campaign for the Democratic nomination for governor.

In a memo to donors, McAuliffe said he doubled his goal of $500,000. The memo said almost all of the money came from people who own homes or businesses in Virginia. McAuliffe’s campaign estimates that less than $40,00 came from out of state.
